We WillLove Radically
We will nurture a genuinely caring community that celebrates our life together, strives to grow in faithful and mutual love, and seeks unity of spirit in all things.
John 13:34, NRSV: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Ephesians 4:3: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace”
We willListen Actively, Communicate Clearly
We will respectfully listen to and honor the ideas, opinions, and concerns of our church family. We will build trust with each other and mutually between the congregation and our leadership by communicating clearly and honestly, offering our opinions with humility.
Ephesians 4:15-16, NRSV “But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ…each as part is working properly promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love”
We WillLive Graciously
We will exercise generosity of spirit when we disagree, seeking forgiveness for hurts and offering grace to heal, cherishing each other as God’s people.
Colossians 3:12-13: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.”
The Message version: So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other.
We WillServe Generously
We will encourage mutual devotion to the ministry of our Church, giving generously of our gifts, while recognizing each other’s call to live and serve outside our fellowship.
Ephesians 5:1-2: “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God”
